We hosted whirling Swedish dervishes Väsen, a gleeful, modern ensemble rooted in the folk tradition of Uppland, Sweden. We were also joined by fiddle player and singer Andrea Zonn, whose elegant sound is influenced by an uncommon mix of bluegrass, country, Celtic, and folk music.

We spent this week at the Fitzgerald. Country and bluegrass musician Jeannie Kendall, whose band The Kendalls had the hit "Love is Only a Sin Away," joined us, as well as blues legend Spider John Koerner and angel-voiced up-and-comer Becky Schlegel. And we spent time with Arnold, the soothing music of Brahms, and a hapless author on a book tour through Hell.
October 4, 2003 broadcast with Marcia Ball and Jearlyn Steele
We spent Saturday, October 4th, at the Fitzgerald Theater in Saint Paul, with bayou piano queen Marcia Ball as our musical guest. Jearlyn Steele brought her vocal and thespian talents to our stage once more before abandoning us for Hollywood. Barb and Jim were transfixed by a new gated community, Guy Noir helped a local rapper find her car, and Bush made another appearance on our show.

This show begins A Prairie Home Companion's 30th anniversary season. The Derailers came up from Austin, Texas, for some good old rock'n'roll. Steel guitarist Cindy Cashdollar joined The Guy's All-Star Shoe Band. And singer Jearlyn Steele joined Garrison for a few tunes.
