This week on A Prairie Home Companion a compilation of three shows from last November at the Fitzgerald Theater, with Pert' Near Sandstone, Kristin Andreassen and Jearlyn and Jevetta Steele — who are on to talk about their runaway summer smash hit movie, Steele Away. Ruth Harrison has to deal with a loud cellphone talker at the reference desk, Maria Jette sings a song for Swedes, "O Vermeland," and in Lake Wobegon: the story of an exile, Eugene Rose, who comes home to his family's lake cabin.

This week on A Prairie Home Companion, it's a garden fresh hot dish of shows from the Greek Theater, in Los Angeles. Featuring Bonnie Raitt singing duets with Keb' Mo', Randy Newman singing a song for his beloved New Orleans, and Martin Sheen taking on multiple dramatic roles: a crotchety Irishman, a slippery movie producer, and a difficult tour bus operator. Paula Poundstone and Erica Rhodes also sit in with the Royal Academy of Radio Actors, and in Lake Wobegon — the story of Herman the Human Lightning Rod, survivor of seven atmospheric discharges.

This week on A Prairie Home Companion, the first in our summertime series of compilation shows. Our troupe is scattered hither and yon, mostly yon, and so we've put together some bits from old shows (which is how we cut costs, or as the French would say, "Quelle est la place la moins cher?"). And so for all of the Francophiles (or Francophobes as the case may be): a show in honor of Bastille Day coming up on July 14, with Maurice the maitre d' at the Café Boeuf, torch singer Francine Roche, Romeo's aria sung by tenor Raúl Melo, and a song from Phil Cunningham and Aly Bain called "Bonaparte's Retreat." Plus, Guy Noir's girlfriend Sugar is dying to play the lead part in the Madame Bovary musical. In Lake Wobegon, the story of Uncle Sigurd who went to France to paint nudes.
