GK: Came into Goshen on the train from New York (SFX), the Lake Shore Limited, a great train ride, and spring was all around. Dogs running free and happy (SFX). You could hear screen doors slapping shut (SFX) and kids riding their bikes fast down the street (SFX). They planted beans in school and those beans have sprouted (SFX). People up on ladders washing windows (SPRITZ) with ammonia and wiping them clean (SQUEAKS). People getting their lake cabins ready, putting in the dock (MAN IN FREEZING WATER), it helps to have a son-in-law to carry the end of the dock into the deeper water. People setting out stuff for the garage sale (RUMMAGE, CLUNKS) ---- stuff that's been in the basement for years ('WHAT IS THIS?" CLANK CLANK). It's a corn planter. (NO, IT'S AN ATTENUATOR.) It looks like a rutabaga peeler. (IT'S A KRAINIS.) A what? (A KRAINIS.) What's that? (WE USED TO HAVE ONE. YOU USE IT TO EXTEND THE ATTENUATOR.)
Birds are building their nests (SFX) and your cat is watching them (SFX). An outdoor cat will kill about 50 birds a summer (CAT IN HUNTING MODE). This is something you try to hide from small children. (DADDY? COME HERE. LOOK AT LULU.) Chimney swifts are circling, high in the air. (SFX) They do everything on the wing ---- they do their courtship and mating up there (SFX). The cherry trees are in bloom, and the bees are out, working on the flowers (SFX)...
GK: ...The toads are out singing (SFX) and goslings are hatching and following their mother down to the water (SFX). Farmers are out working their fields and planting (TRACTOR). The sound of the lawnmower is heard in the land (SFX). The world comes alive and our sound effects man who has been limited to dripping faucets (SFX) and the hum of the clothes dryer (SFX) and the ring of the cellphone (SFX) can now do lawnmowers again (BIG SWASH OF MOWER). Garden tractors (SFX). Hedge trimmers (SFX). Chainsaws. (START UP, THEN CUTTING, AND TREE FALLS). Mr. Fred Newman.
