TR: I'm Brent Breckinridge, CEO of AmCanCom, the American Canoe-Racing Committee, and after our team lost a race to CanCanCom, the Canadian team, last summer on the Columbia river, I formed a task force to investigate, and we found that the Canadians had 8 people rowing and 1 person steering, while we had 1 person rowing and 8 people steering. I decided that changes needed to be made. I reorganized our AmCanCom team so that we had 4 steering supervisors, 3 area steering superintendents and 1 navigational manager, and I introduced an incentive program for the rower, offering dinners and free mileage, based on results. This summer, I'm sorry to say, we finished even farther behind the Canadians, and for that reason, I've decided to lay off the rower and sell the canoe and paddles and hire two steering consultants and a vice-president for steerage. I'm confident that in the very near future, we're going to be back up front where we belong.
