This week: our summer rebroadcasts continue, with a show originally from the War Memorial Opera House in San Francisco, California back in January 2013. Chanticleer perform "I Laid Me Down to Slumber" and Sara Watkins sings "Take it With Me." Plus, Dusty and Lefty wrangle with lawless Silicon Valley desperadoes, thoughts on the perils of being a tall person, and there's a terrible flu going around Lake Wobegon.
Chanticleer
Chanticleer had its beginnings in 1978 when a musicology grad student named Louis Botto got a bunch of his friends together around a dining room table in San Francisco. Now in its 35th season, the Grammy-winning male vocal ensemble has toured worldwide and released dozens of recordings, including 2012's By Request (Chanticleer Records). More than 100 men have sung with Chanticleer, the first group of its kind to be inducted into the American Classical Music Hall of Fame. The current members are: Eric Alatorre, Michael Axtell, Casey Breves, Michael Bresnahan, Brian Hinman, Ben Jones,Matthew Knickman, Cortez Mitchell, Gregory Peebles,Kory Reid, Alan Reinhardt, and Adam Ward.
